Perry Augustus
African American Abolitionist

Perry Augustus is thought to be Davy’s father. He lived in New Garden, PA near Kennett Square. He took great delight in helping take freedom seekers from Wilmington, DE across the line into Pennsylvania. Isaac Mason named him in his book "Life of Isaac Mason As A Slave", giving us much needed information about the Underground Railroad system. It is known that Perry Augustus did deliver freedom seekers to Underground stations in New Garden.
